The 13 Indian languages which will now be supported by the Opera Mini for Androids include, Bengali, Assamese, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Oriya, Malayalam, Punjabi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. As a result of this change the Opera Mini now supports more than 90 languages which make the software accessible to a large number of users around the world. To change the language setting from the default language to the desired language the users can apply the change through the settings available on the web browser.

According to Sunil Kamath, vice president of South Asia and South East Asia, Opera Software, the addition of these 13 new Indian languages has been done in order to overcome the language barrier which prevents the illiterate section of the society to come online and explore the world of internet. He also said that the localization of content and tools that provide the web to the end users is crucial in order to accomplish the dream of Digital India.

Before bringing about this multilingual support the Opera Software had referred to the study by the management consulting firm McKinsey, which stated that language barriers are one of the greatest barriers for internet adoption. Therefore, keeping this in mind the company decided to bring in the multilingual support.

The new version of Opera Mini for Androids not only comes with a multilingual support but it has also enabled a new feature of QR-code reader and generator. This feature allows the users to use Opera Mini browser on their Android devices as a QR code reader which would read the codes of any of their products. Apart from reading their product codes, the users can also generate QR codes directly from the internet browser and can further share the codes with their friends.

The update version of Opera Mini has not only added new features but has also improved its old features. The new version has an improved download manager. This improvement provides the users with improved stability and speed when they download any content from the browser.

So, here are the three major features which the new updated version of the Opera Mini for Androids is going to provide to its users from Tuesday onwards, the facility of 13 Indian languages, a R-code reader and generator and an improved download manager for fast and convenient download facility.
