Asus Live with 2GB of Ram, 5.00-inch Display Launched: Asus has released a brand new smartphone named ‘ASUS LIVE’. Surprisingly it doesn’t have “Zenfone” name in it. This smartphone is right now only available in BRAZIL but soon it will be released in other countries. Asus LIVE comes with 5 inch IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels, and runs on android 5.1 lollipop. The device is powered by a low-end, 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor. The Handset has 2 GB DDR3 RAM, plus 16 GB of internal storage and a 2070 mAh battery which is quite decent. ASUS is also offering 100 GB of free google drive storage and 5GB of free Asus Web Storage.  It has an 8-megapixel autofocus back camera along with a 2-megapixel front camera.

Asus Live Features

On the connectivity side the device has 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, USB 2.0, Bluetooth v4.0, FM radio and GPS options. The ASUS LIVE is a plastic built phone and has coloured sides and accents (in blue, magenta, or yellow). In Brazil it cost $210 and it is expected to be released in India on 22nd January 2016. Asus finally decided to break away from its Zenfone series and released a new device with a fresh and recognizable title of its own named ‘ASUS LIVE’. Surprisingly it does not belong to “Zenfone” category.

The specifications aren’t going to turn many heads, but the device could prove to be a popular device. Asus LIVE comes with 5 inch IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels, and 294 ppi density. The 5 inch HD display provides comfortable viewing experience. The device is powered by a low-end, quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor which is clocked at 1.3GHz and runs on android 5.1 lollipop. Marshmallow is out for quite some time so maybe it is perfect time for manufacturers to stop releasing device that runs on lollipop.

The Handset has 2 GB DDR3 RAM, plus 16 GB of internal storage and the storage memory is expandable up to 64 GB which is quiet decent. ASUS is also offering 100 GB of free google drive storage and 5 GB of free Asus Web Storage. This will be handy for backing up your data, photos, media etc. The Live offers a battery backup with its Li-Po 2070 mAh battery which keeps the device running for long duration.

One of the highlights of this medium range device is that its 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with f/2.0 aperture which captures details and colour perfectly. For selfie lovers ASUS LIVE offers a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.4 aperture.

As per the price is concern Asus Live priced around $210 (roughly Rs. 14,000). Just like its cousin ZENFONE the device has two 3G sim slots, Wi-Fi 802.11 bgn, USB 2.0, Bluetooth v4.0, FM radio and GPS options on the connectivity side. The connectivity option does not include 4G. On the audio front, the phone offers a decent output with loudspeaker and even with the earphone plugged in. The ASUS LIVE is a plastic built phone and right now is available in three colors – blue, magenta and yellow.

With dimension 144.5 x 71 x 9.98 mm and weight 140 grams it is neither most compact nor the bulkiest 5inch handset. The device looks like small version of Zenfone Max with volume button in rear side rather than back like most ASUS Zenfone has.The Asus Live is a good phone that offers a large display, dual-SIM support, and laden with features, all enclosed in a good design that makes it a good value for money option.
