BlackBerry Priv review: solid body, slow performance: Surprisingly BlackBerry is back with a bang. The Canadian smartphone maker is not leaving any stone unturned to get back its position in the smartphone market. The new smartphone the BlackBerry Priv is not typically Blackberry. It is the first Android handset of the company which boasts flagship specs and features a slide-out physical keyboard like the other blackberry smartphones. The price of this device is extremely high with a price tag of Rs. 62,990. The specifications are discussed below.

DISPLAY & DESIGN: The new Blackberry Priv comes with a QHD display of 5.4-inches with a resolution of 1440x2560p and pixel density of 540 PPI. The smartphone is protected by coating of Corning Gorillas Glass 4 on top. Blackberry have always been good with designs and with Priv it has set an example of how a flagship device should really look like. For better audio it has front audio speakers. The volume rockers are located on the right side, while the power button is placed on the left side of the phone. The keyboard of the phone is of QWERTY type.
CAMERA: Blackberry Priv sports a rear camera of 18-megapixel with PDAF, optical image stabilisation, 4K video recording, Schneider-Kreuznach optics and dual-LED flash. It further has a front facing Camera of 2 megapixel which supports HD video recording.
HARDWARE & SOFTWARE: Blackberry Priv is powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit processor, 1.8GHz dual-core (Cortex-A57 and 1.44GHz quad-core Cortex-A53). It has an Adreno 418 600MHz GPU, RAM of 3GB and internal storage of 32GB which is expanded via MicroSD upto 200GB. The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with a custom BlackBerry launcher.
BATTERY & CONNECTIVITY: The device houses a non-removable battery of 3,410 mAh and deliver up to 22.5 hours of mixed usage. It also comes with wireless charging and Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 support. Connectivity options for the phone includes 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Micro-USB, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS/ A-GPS and NFC. It has only one sim card slot and it support Nano-sim. SENSORS: Priv bears a gyroscope, proximity sensor, time of flight (ToF) sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, altimeter, magnetometer, and activity monitor.
PRICE & AVAILABILITY: The Priv was launched in October for pre-order and was made available in November in US and Canada, last year. The phone is priced at Rs. 62,990 and will be available in retail stores, BlackBerry authorised partners and online via Amazon India.
As the Priv is the first Android phone of the Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry, we muust say that it is a decent attempt. It has good security features, a competent camera, impressive display and an awesome keyboard.
