Design

The BLU Vivo 5 comes with a premium metallic build at an affordable range and the look of the phone does give the feeling of an expensive flagship smartphone. The back as well as the side of the phone is completely covered with metal and the design is quite durable and it seems much more scratch resistant than the aluminum phones. The device is quite slim and measures only 6.9mm and it weighs 141 grams. The BLU Vivo 5 is available in two colours, Chic Gold and Liquid Silver.

Display

BLU offers a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display which has a resolution of only 720p and therefore a pixel density of 267ppi. The colour reproduction is accurate and the black display is very deep. The whites do appear a little pinkish but that is common with Amoled Panels. The display should have been solid because of the Amoled screen but the low display resolution has significantly affected the viewing experience. As a result of the low display resolution, the pixilation becomes noticeable and sometimes the texts even become fuzzy.

Though the phone is not recommended for reading texts but it can be considered to watch videos.

Camera

The BLU Vivo 5, even after being a mid-range phone, offers a 13 mega pixel rear camera and a 5 mega pixel front camera with LED flash. Though the camera comes without optical image stabilization, yet it can click good shots, especially in perfect lighting.

The colours saturation is not that good and the camera’s slow shutter speed often results in blurry images. But good pictures can be clicked with the help of the HDR and the user’s ability to keep their hand steady while clicking.

The video quality of the device is decent but the users might experience over exposing and the videos can even be shaky sometimes.

Overall, it can be said that the camera of this device is nothing exceptional but is decent. For a device of this price range, the camera is still impressive.

Hardware and Performance

The Vivo 5 comes with an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor which is backed by Mali- T720 GPU and has a RAM of 3GB. The device runs smoothly, and switching from one app to another is convenient and smooth. The only problem comes while browsing through the recent apps screen. The games also run well on this phone and overall, it can be said that the phone’s performance is remarkable. This device has scored 2,850 on GeekBench and it was given 38,009 score by Antutu.

It has a dual SIM card tray and in one of these a microSD card can be inserted. Apart from the extensible storage, the phone has an in-built storage capacity of 32GB.

BLU Vivo 5 review: Battery

The phone has a 3150mAh non-removable battery and with the help of the low resolution screen, backed by the energy efficient processor, the device can last for one full day and even overnight without charging. This battery efficiency is also because of the intelligent standby power saving mode which remains active by default.

The screen on time of BLU Vivo 5 on an average is 6 hours. The phone can be charged with the help of the USB Type C connector which is present at the bottom of the phone. The phone gets charged fairly fast but still the charging speed is low when compared to its competitors.
