Chinese technology company creates world’s first Graphene e-paper: Who stated that e-paper was a very old stuff? Certainly not China, The OED Technologies of Guangzhou has created what it has said, that the world’s first grapheme-based e-paper. This extremely strong but yet light material promises very thin screens that are both more flexible and brighter. For instance, you can get the e-readers that are very easier to read on a sunny day or for an activity tracker that can put up with the more abuse. It can be even less expensive, as the graphene’s carbon is very much easier to find than the exotic indium metal you can see the conventional e-paper.

The main question is simply of the availability. In a year, the company is expecting to start the production of the grapheme e-paper, and it is not clear just who is lined up. You should not only count on the Amazon making a graphene kindle. If the technology takes off, though, it may give the e-paper some relevance in the era when it is just being crowded out by the LCD and OLED based devices.
