They are trying to keep a track of all the fake profiles by using the name and profile pictures. Every time they get of one, they will inform the respected person. It will also help the victim to shut down the fake profile and thus prevent bullying and other crimes.
Facebook is also working on the security of the profiles and provides new features which will prevent people from uploading consensual intimate images which pose a threat to the users. Thus it is a measure against abuse- you can report if you find any inappropriate pictures or media uploaded on the social site. The pictures concerned may be subject to deletion. The company will also help the people who are tormented by cyber harassment and abuse. The Facebook website will provide all its users with certain links that will be beneficial.
So, now Facebook thinks that someone has created a fake profile, it will instantly send you a message and then you can do the needful and take steps against it. After that, the person who have been charged will be sent a message. He/She will have to respond whether the account which they have created is genuine or it is fake and whether the site had correctly detected or not.
If the user of the account claims that the profile is a fake one, then Facebook will take steps to block the profile.
The company is already working on it. They have managed to detect and take measures on nearly seventy five percent of all the fake accounts that have been created. Although creating duplicate fake profiles are not that great a crime but at times it does cause a lot of significant troubles and thus should be condemned.
