Free public Wi-Fi service on five railway stations launches by Google: On Monday, Google has announced the launch of its free high-speed public Wi-Fi service at Jaipur, Guwahati, Ujjain, Allahabad and Patna railway stations.

Google said in release that, this is in the continuation with its project to provide the high-speed public Wi-Fi service at 100 Railway stations across the India by the end of this year.
It said that Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Railways will formally inaugurate the service at these stations soon.
Google also said that it has been in deploying the service over the extensive fibre network of the Indian Railway’s arm Railtel that provides the Internet services as RailWire.
With all these launches, the service is now will be live and available to the users at 15 stations across the country, they added.
Backed by ‘phenomenal’ response to the services in the Mumbai Central, Google will also extend the project to cover the key suburban Mumbai stations working with the RailTel.
Google will deploy this service in the following areas:
- Bandra Terminus
- Shivaji Terminus
- And few others.
Gulzar Azad the Google India Head of Access Programs said that, they are seeing the incredible usage of the Wi-Fi service across the stations and over 2.5 lakhs users are constantly using the service every week and demonstrating more than 2x growth in less than a month.
Stating that Google is committed to work with Railtel and Indian Railways to deliver the high-speed Wi-Fi network that will be available to around 10 million Indians by the end of the year by covering 100 of the busiest railway station in India, it also said that the project will be eventually rolled out to cover around 400 train stations in India.
The RailTel-Google free high sped public wi-Fi service is currently available at the following cities
- Mumbai Central
- Ernakulum Junction
