Gionee Elife S8

This handset is the upgraded model of the S7 model. This smart phone has improved camera. Here are the phone specifications.

BUILD AND DESIGN

The smart phone has a metal case which is non removable. Gionee claims that this model is based on invisible antenna loop design but certainly you will find the antenna strip towards the edge. The phone is easy to hold and is not slippery. It does not have much curves on the rear side. On the left side, you will find the dual sim slot and on the opposite side, there are the volume and the power buttons. At the base, the speakers are located and the USB C type port. It has 3.5 mm jack. The handset is quite slim too.

DISPLAY

The handset comes with 5.5 inch screen which is full HD with AMOLED display. It is protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The 3D touch that the company implemented works well enough- a bit similar to the one which we find on the iPhone 6s as well as 6s plus. For instance, if you press the camera icon for a long time, you will be given options of either clicking selfies or videos or snapshots. If you long press the home page, then you get an animated home page. There are several such options. The company also states that it is going to work with the app developers and soon make the 3D Touch compatible for all the apps available.

RAM, STORAGE AND BATTERY

The Gionee S8 comes with the Mediatek’s P10 chipset or the M16755. Although the Mediatek P10 is for the average ranged phones, it is used for this phone. The smart phone has a RAM of 4 GB and comes with any internal storage of 64 GB. It also contains a expandable memory slot which can expand memory storage up to 200GB. It works on octa core processor. The phone is compatible with 4G connections and the other connectivities include Wi Fi, Bluetooth as well as the FM Radio. The phone had dual sim feature. There is the fingerprint sensing scanner too. The battery is decent with 3000 mAh. There is still no idea whether it supports fast charging feature or not. Stay tuned, will soon update.

CAMERA

The brand new Gionee smart phone has a back camera of 16 mega pixels and a front facing camera of 8 mega pixels. It supports RWB sensor too. It has an aperture of f/1.8. It is credited with the laser AF and phase detect AF features. Even the front facing camera has a 1/4 inch sensor. The camera is a lot like the Elife E7 which also supports time lapse as well as slow motion video recording. There is a great video editing app that helps you capture as well as edit videos present on the smart phone. The phone’s camera is said to be supporting barcode scanning as well as animated GIFs. Although these features seem exciting, it is still a huge doubt whether it will function perfectly in the real world or not.
