According to Facebook research, the growth of Tor from over the past few years has been a roughly linear and it has been noticed that in june around 525,000 people accessed the service vis Tor and now this year in April it has been rose to more than a million.

This rapid growth is a reflection of the choices of the people that are making to use Facebook over Tor and also the value that is provided to them. TechCrunch of Facebook has quoted that, we are hoping that they will continue to providing the feedback and help us to keep improving.

By sending data through the multiple encrypted steps Tor allows the anonymous Web browsing rather than by making a direct connection that shields the identity of users.

In October 2014, Facebook created a dedicated address for Tor for making it easier for the users to connect via Tor and to provide them privacy.

A spokeswoman for Tor in confirming Facebook’s claim stated in a statement that, ‘While using the Facebook website over Tor, the Tor Browser is the in charge of that data, so it is quite anonymous. Of course, anyone may post a status update like, saying that they are at some restaurant and that would be going to de-anonymise them.

Generally, the hackers, privacy activists, journalists and activists use this dark web i.e. Tor to communicate securely.
